OFFICIAL INAUGURATION CEREMONY

Kakar History Foundation was officially inaugurated on January 5, 2019 by H.E. President Ashraf Ghani in presence of the current and former cabinet members, the members of both houses of the parliament, directors, governors, academic cadres, lecturers, scholars and civil society representatives, tribal elders, youth and friends.

Respectable sister Maryam Kakar, Kawun Jan, Sabawun Jan, and Khwaga Kakar, all dear participants, teachers, students, brothers and sisters, and Kakar Sahib fans, Assalamu Alaikum! Today, I am going to talk about someone here whom I have known for decades, and even knew him before meeting him for the first time because he was an author and used to write scholarly works and do important translations. I knew him because of his works. In the 1350s (solar calendar), when I was a young professor at the Literature Faculty of the University of Kabul, Kakar’s two books were very popular. One was his book called “What is History” that he translated and another was Kakar’s master’s thesis, which had been printed as a book and had attracted much attention.

Your Excellency Mr. President, the dear respected chairman of Meshrano Jirga, the current and former cabinet members, the members of both houses of the parliament, advisors of the president, directors, governors, academic cadres, lecturers, scholars and civil society representatives, tribal elders, youth and friends – Assalamu Alaikum! I welcome you all on behalf of my family and the Kakar History Foundation and sincerely thank you very much for your coming. It has been said that if you want to collapse a nation then destroy its history. Respecting the history of a nation is actually preserving the identity and values of that nation. The fact that you have highly paid homage to Muhammad Hassan Kakar in his life, as well as after his death, and have also attended this gathering, it means that you haven’t only honored his personality but in fact,

First of all, I would like to congratulate the members of the foundation’s board, Kawun Khan Kakar, all the members of Kakar’s family, and the lovers of the foundation on the official inauguration of the Kakar History Foundation. Also, I would like to thank the foundation’s administration and Kawun Khan for inviting me to attend and speak at this wonderful event. Late scholar Dr. Mohammad Hassan Kakar was a close friend of mine and I expect to get invited to other such ceremonies commemorating Kakar and along with other Kakar Sahib’s lovers, I also get a chance to join the discussions on Kakar’s personality and ideas.
